Yesterday I discovered a very interesting thing: I had two link referrals from Academy of Art University – the one I really, really want to join next spring!
It was really nice surprise for me, oh yes! I even took English classes because I have to take TOEFL or TOEIC test before apply. Also, I have to translate my diploma and I don’t know what is equivalent to US here in Croatia. Hmmmm, I have to discover and I have to move fast, very fast, because spring 2008 classes start January 28th! OMG! That’s soon!
I’m not sure which major should I choose: photography, digital arts&communications, fine arts, graphic design, computer arts: new media or illustration. I like fashion too :). I’m interested in motion pictures&television – and I have to design one video jingle for my friend until Wednesday, here for our national television. So, I’m in trouble choosing my major!
Phhhh….. what should I do?

I’m not sure whether my visitors know where Graz is? It’s a small city in Austria, near Slovenian border and very close to Croatia - Croatians just looooveee to visit their favorite shopping area.
More than fifteen years ago, we used to get everything there: clothing, food, furniture… but these times are now changed. Now, we also have (maybe too many) shopping malls and there is no need for us to go abroad. But we still miss one thing here in Croatia: Ikea.
Every second man or woman in Croatia was in Graz, but if you asked them where in Graz it would always be the same answer: in the shopping area (it’s called „Graz-West“ and „Seiersberg”). Almost no visits the Graz city center!
But we do :), and we like it! And as you reading this post I am probably somewhere on the road to Graz or am drinking coffee in one of the Graz coffee shops! Or maybe I’ll be drinking hot wine on the streets?

I’m pissed off! Oh, yes. I am.
You know, here in Croatia we got something like an ebay, but modest and cheap. Really cheap.
Since we moved to a new apartment, we concluded that our new bookshelves are not enough for all of our books. So, we decided to give the books away to our friends and family. A week ago, I decided to sell a few books on our Croatian „ebay“.
Starting prices were low, and guess what – they stayed low. For example: „Ivo Friscic - monograph of the painter’s work“ was sold for only $2,40 (full color book, painter’s reproductions, hard covers, 7“x8“). It looks like my compatriots do not care for books or art…
I tried to sell fiction. And again missed. Didn’t sell the book on humor fiction. And that was a new one! My husband bought it for me few months ago.
The most crazy thing happened with one of the buyers who thought that I’m kind of a clairvoyant. One of the buyers told me that she agrees to meet me on Monday afternoon. I replayed that it’s OK with me, and if she had some problem she can call me on my mobile. I left the number in my mail. I never met her before. Never spoke to her before. Just agreed on meeting today.
So, today, I was waiting on the street with books in my arms. Of course – she didn’t show up. But, fortunately I sold that book to another bidder, one that I met an hour later.
This supposed to be the end of the story. For me. But, no. She was angry. She thought that I could predict that she has a habit of confirming the meeting once again – the day before. She has a habit. Like she is my friend, and I know that she has this habit! Or, I’m a kind of a clairvoyant and I must know that she has a habit! The best of all, she was angry on me!
Another interesting thing is the two of five buyers that I arranged meeting today didn’t show up: the first one and the last one. The last buyer didn’t meet me and I had two books which I didn’t want to bring home again. The funniest thing is that my husband talked me into selling the books over to the second-hand bookshop named “Jesenski i Turk” were we got 10x the price we won on auction site. Immediately.
All in all, that adventure is one thing I’ll never repeat again! No way! I felt so stupid standing there waiting for the person I never met… and on the top of it she sends me an email stating that I should have maybe known that she will not show up … I really, really don’t need that. I’d rather give those books away for free!

I said that I loooove Christmas lights on the trees, city walls and all over our apartment! WooHoo!
Right now, I fantasize about taking a trip to Vienna, or maybe a Graz? I really, really love those two cities in the wintertime! Coldness, hot wine, sausages (I don’t like meat very much, but nevermind!), cookies, cinnamon smell all around and the best of all: Fried POTATOES with red pepper! Yes!
Big tasteful slices of potatoes sprinkled with dried red pepper are usually fried on the streets, in large thin barrels on wood coal fire. Yummy!
Since I don’t have a selling booth here in Zagreb this holiday season I hope we can take some time to visit Vienna for a day or two. Vienna is only 370 km far away and we used to go there every year in holiday season. We used to watch „The Lord of the Rings” trilogy there (year by year), in the English cinema „Haydn“ of course
(we are not quite good in German).
Now, another trilogy has been made: Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” – so maybe that’s the even bigger to visit Vienna and a complete holiday season feeling
Oh and my Daemon is tiger named Alexius
